Formula One or F1 is the highest class of car racing organised by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). The “formula” is a set of rules that all the drivers and racing car constructors must follow.
Each year a number of races, known as Grands Prix, take place throughout the world. The races take place at specific race courses but also to a lesser extent on public roads. At the end of the race year two awards are given, one to the top driver and the other to the top constructor.
Traditionally Europe was the centre of Formula One primarily owing to the fact that most of the teams were based there. However, in recent years the racing events have expanded to Asia and the Far East.
Below is the 2010 race calendar. We will be creating brief city profiles for you so if you are going to watch the races you will know all the nice places to visit.
