Get ready for the 2010 FIFA World Cup international tournament. The 19th FIFA World Cup is set to take place in South Africa between 11th June until 11th July 2010. The tournament is the culmination of a qualification process that began in 2007 within which 204 counties took part.

South Africa beat off fellow rivals Morocco and Egypt to be the first African country to host the World Cup. The final draw took place in Cape Town on 4th December 2009.

Unlike previous tournaments the defending champions did not automatically qualify which meant Italy had to go through the qualifying process. South Africa are the only automatic qualifiers because they are the host country. Out of the original 204 countries that took part in the qualifiers only 32 teams qualified for the final tournament.

The venues for the tournament include: Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein, Polokwane, Nelspruit, and Rustenburg.
